One of the consideration pertains to the amount of time that should elapse between eating foods other than fruit and then eating fruit. As long as your stomach is empty, you can eat all the fruit you wish over as long a period as you wish, so long as twenty to thirty minutes elapse before eating anything else. This will allow the time necessary for the fruit or juice to leave your stomach. Juice and some fruits take less time, but twenty to thirty minutes is a good standard to use to be sure. Bananas, dates, and dried fruit need about forty-five minutes to one hour. Once you have eaten anything other than fruit, you must wait at least three hours. If any flesh food is eaten, at least four hours. These times pertain only to foods that were eaten in accordance with proper food combining. If you should eat a meal that is not properly combined, the food will probably be in your stomach for at least eight hours. You should therefore not consume any fruit or fruit juice during that time.
